What is Mediation?
Mediation is a process that allows people to resolve their
differences, while avoiding much of the time and expense of a
legal proceeding.
A trained, neutral mediator works to improve the
communications between the people. The mediator does not act
as a judge, attorney or counselor. Instead, the mediator helps
the people reach their own agreement, rather than having a result
imposed on them.
When Does Mediation Work?
Mediation works best when people are willing to work on their
problems and talk through a neutral third party. Use of the
mediator allows emotions to be calmed, and for common sense
to be applied.
